The journey of my American BFF in Malaysia

The past four to five months since being back in Malaysia has been an interesting one for me.... I would say that I went through ups and downs.....in such a short period of time....but it has definitely been a fulfilling and enriching past few months I would say. However, this experience of coming back home to Malaysia after been away for so long, adjusting back to life here was made richer by one of my closest friends from Hawaii, USA. It's interesting how our life's have cross paths since we first met, 5 years ago.... and it was actually during our choir course..... Try to refrain from laughing when you read this:

We stood next to each other during choir for a few weeks not even introducing ourselves..one fine day... our respective friends standing on the other side both happen to not come at the same time..maybe it was fate that they didn't come but we turned to each other and the first question she asked me was

"So, what are you doing now?"

I surprisingly answered "I work as a stripper on Waikiki for a living...." and she responded with..."ooh...me too..I also work as a stripper in (I forgot the name of the club!)"....and that's how our beautiful friendship started.....I know..unconventional right?!?

After that, we became closer and closer..... that we basically "followed each other around the world?" We were not only friends but housemates in Hawaii. After two years of knowing each other, she went to Singapore for study abroad in which I was also back in Malaysia for a short time. When I went back to Hawaii for graduate school, she followed suit because she had to go back to finish her bachelors... and when I came back here to do research..she decided she wanted to intern in an architecture firm in Malaysia... and that was when she has been a part of the Choo family since her arrival....

Two days ago..she decided to head back to Hawaii to pursue a full time job in engineering, and this post is basically a few of our shared memories together throughout her journey here in Malaysia and the reason why I will miss her:

1. First and foremost, I will miss her enthusiasm and love for food...now I have no one to share the passion of eating and the joy of food with anymore... not only does she eats as much as me(more polite according to my parents), but she loves the same type of food! Where do you find a friend like that?!?

2. Will definitely miss the fact that we are probably the craziest karaoke singers around... we would call and ask to book a room for two and I usually get the "huh? two only?" Yes people...if you get the chance to see two girls in a karaoke room singing only..thats probably Kendra and I:p (and we also dance on the couch..)

3. Gonna miss our trips together..I know I will always have someone to sleep with..although she may sleep the whole time without uttering a squeak...hehehehe

4. Miss my + 1 for all events.... especially the ones *hint* with the three other girls in the above picture... in which they come with their boyfriends....

5. I will definitely miss the fact that you are always up for anything..... even badminton....remember to practise babe:)

6. And most of all...I will miss the fact that you are already like a sister to me..... one of the Choo's as we may call it..... In our family events, even weddings..Kenj is sure to be invited...

What can I say? Many of my friends asked me...are you going to miss Kendra when she leaves..... My answer is a definite Yes!...this girl has not just been my best friend but like a sister to me this whole time.... we have actually celebrated each other's birthdays together for the past five years!!! I am sure there are more memories to come..... probably next year?!? Hope you come back soon babe...or will see you when I go back to Hawaii next year:)

Both our birthdays this year..........

Topman launch @ Suria KLCC

Who doesn't like fashion? Be it males or females.....however shabby you think you are or have no sense of fashion...you still need to wear clothes right?!? Due to my lack of fashion sense....being honest here alright....I get excited(as usual) when I was invited to attend the Topman launch at Suria KLCC! Not only do you get to see the usual female models, but you get to view the newest styles launched by Topman! woo hoo!! which means hot guys strutting their stuff;)

The lighting and stage set up was minimalistic I would say.... which means..the focus gets to be on the clothes...smart!

So happy I got to attend this event with my friend Christina who has the most wicked fashion sense! She should open her own fashion boutique *wink*

With Tim and June

Megan!! Love her headband...

Andy and June! As you can tell..all these lovely photos for your viewing pleasure was taken by none other than Andy Kho himself!:)

Now..on to the most anticipated part...the fashion! Here are a few of my favourites!

Loving the nerd look!

Have always loved shirts with stripes!!! Sexy in a laidback kinda way...
Jayson in his blue shirt and jacket! street style..

The female models had heavy lidded make up...probably more 70's style(I hope this is right!!!hhehehehe, or was it 80's?)..with the signature thigh high stockings!

Loving the blouse..gives an airy fairy feel....can be casual and glammed up for different occasions!

This dress is absolutely to DIE FOR! so pretty!!!!! besides loving the colour white...it's very simplistic in a way but has the touch of sophistication...

Of course..this sexy outfit is like an lbd(little back dress) to me...everyone should have one of these looks!

A picture with Yunn Ru and Jayson before heading to shop till we drop!

I have to admit......one of the main attractions of the launch of course besides the fashion show was....the fact that all invited get to enjoy 20% off everything in both their topman and topshop stores!! weeeee.......Plus, in our goodie bags...they included a rm50 voucher which you can add to the 20%....what a steel!

But...as you can see..the queue going into both Topman and Topshop was loooooooonnnnnnnngggg....and even worse to pay and try out clothes...so Christina and I left...but we found out later on..our friends bought stuff for Rm8-10 when it was originally close to RM100!! boo hoo!! I guess patience does pay off?????

Well....to console ourselves... don't worry...there will be sales soon right!?!?:) ~tee hee~

My MOST memorable Birthday week!!!!!!!!

I know!!! I have not been updating my blog in awhile.....well, it's because last week was my birthday week! I usually don't have week long celebrations..but given the fact that this is my first time celebrating in Malaysia since 2005, I forgot how fun and crazy Malaysians actually celebrate birthdays....one of my friend actually celebrated her birthday for 8 days in a row!!!!!!!! So, don't judge me:p

My first celebration was of course...with my family at Equatorial hotel....We had Chinese food because my grandmother loves Chinese food and so do I:) The food in Equatorial was amazing and the ambience was top notch might I add...... Very pleasant and quiet....

At the entrance with granny, uncle, auntie, and mom..everyone looking pweeettyyy/handsome...

Kenj and John..

Thank you Kenj and John for my first birthday presents!!!!

Three sisters...as I was tagged on facebook! My mom looks sooooo young....

My first cake and wish....

With the whole family:) Thanks for coming you guys....and it was a really great birthday dinner!!!!! Great one to kick start the birthday week...heheheheheeh

Next up is my 2nd celebration at Skewers restaurant and bar!! They were kind enough to host the Malaysian Hottest Bloggers for a food review that night...so there was alooot of food! yyuummzzzzzz....

All the regulars of Skewers:) Sandy's first dining experience there....

With the manager of Skewers and the babysitter for Malaysian Hottest Bloggers....

My first dish..it was the Buffalo wings appetizer!! Yes, I was famished...but decided to take a picture of the wings for you guys to drool over:p

Two of my recommended dishes! Chicken Teriyaki and Lemongrass chicken bites..it's a must try...Yes, there are others...but these are really good!

The Skewers team were sooo nice..they had a cake specially for Tim and my birthday supposedly..but Tim said it wasn't his birthday yet:p
With Sandy and Irving who came down from Singapore for my birthday!!! Love you guys:)

And of course..the hot group of girls....Malaysian hottest bloggers...so excited...I actually got to celebrate my birthday with a group of funny, witty, and amazingly good looking girls and one particular guy..teehee..

A big THANK YOU to Skewers for making my birthday special! So, remember to keep skewers in mind if you want to celebrate your birthday! They are super accomodating:)

Next up...my 3rd celebration of the week at Red box the curve!!! I absolutely love to sing.....to prove to you guys..how much! How about? once a week? and sometimes more....plus, I practically dance and sing on the couch with just one other person..which is Kendra!! My karaoke buddy..so it would be uncalled for if I did not have a singing birthday celebration right?

My "performance" for the night...to be honest..I can't remember what song it was...probably Lady Gaga?

Beers for the guys....knocking themselves out!

and....i got my first polaroid camera that night for my birthday!! was clearly happy snapping away...

With my beloved:) She was awesome throughout my birthday! buying both cakes....and just being there....*huggzzz*

Who's finger is that? kekekeke.... Kendra bought my favourite tiramisu from Alexis as my cake!! woohoo!!

All who came!! Thanks guys!!!! You were amazing!

My final celebration for the week(note the week part...) was at Janda Baik...I truly loved the place the first time I went and insisted we head there for my birthday..and my dearest friends actually took time to go up with me for a weekend! I also have to thank Pye for arranging everything!!!!! weeeee~

The famous backdrop of the rolling hills behind....~swoon~

Board games.....more like drinking ones:p btw, this one is handmade ok!

Some people like JP started drinking when we arrived..and he was sick!Crazy alcy's!

And the two girls dancing behind..yea..they were clearly high on something....dancing on the table top around candles?!? did you guys think you were fairies or something????????

My fav snack!!!!!! there were so many on top of that...hehehe..everyone was snacking through the day...

THe girls preparing for dinner...I told them to dress up for pics! Thanks for making the effort sweeties~

All looking pweeeettyyy!

I *heart* the table setting and candles! really set the mood...THanks ving for making the ambience sooo romantic:)

everyone after food with party hats!
Making my wish right before th clock strike 12 to mark the end of November 6....

A group photo with the guys...

and the gals

Surprise surprise! Hash browns awaited us when we woke up...Irving was ingenious enough to cook breakfast with a rice cooker!!! lol......resourceful much?

I know I know.....this post is super-duper long...but I wanted to share with you guys one of my most memorable birthdays I have had! Not only was it perfect throughout the week with my family kickstarting it off with dinner but I truly treasure my friends for being there to celebrate this special day with me in Malaysia and for making the effort!!!!!
