A mini dispenser like no other

[Advertorial]

People find it funny when I carry a water bottle whereever I go, from my house, to the car, to events(if they don't serve water),even restaurants sometimes, etc. It's not because I am KIAMSAP if that's what you are thinking, it's because I just drink more than two litres of water a day! I kid you not:p  The worst part, some restaurants always forget to refill my glass of tea or cup of water which gets on my nerves...

Boy, was I happy when I found out that Spritzer mineral water came out with  a newly patented mini dispenser to answer all my "drinking" woes! You would think, what's so different about it right? Well, first..

I simply can't carry this huge water dispenser around

Like I can for this...

Second, I can bring it anywhere I want around the house instead of re-filling my water bottle all the time, a mobile water dispenser!

From the bedroom when I've just woken up

To my computer table where all the work gets done and I don't want to be interrupted to get water when I am thirsty

On my sofa while I am watching tv!

Even to the great "outdoors" where I usually chill

As you can tell, not only is it suitable for home usage, but it can also be used in the office, hotels, and the great outdoors because it is very mobile and light. It's also easy for users to change their water when it runs out, because you won't be lugging the whole unit, just the bottled water.

Weeeeee~ I am truly happy that Spritzer actually came up with this because I clearly couldn't cary the huge water dispenser with me everywhere I go! Now, I can drink like a camel all I want and no one can stop me:p

Spritzer Mini Dispenser is now only available in Giant, Cold Storage  and selected petrol kiosk.

Happy Photography - Olympus

Happy, Happy, Happy!!! That's the key term that I always espouse to my friends and family, and even on my blog... what is the H factor???  It actually means  the "Happiness Factor" :)

A recent event that I am hosting now actually brought me back to my childlike moments once again. It's just the set up and the games that we play with the children and even adults that brings the laughter out! I don't usually blog about the events that I emcee but this is one of the rare ones that actually keep me laughing the whole time while emceeing, and the best part is seeing  my audience laugh along. Cracking up even the dullest of face!

Although small, you can tell from the set up it will attract the crowd..

Theme shows how an innocent child grew up, to be doing the same thing.... keep the childlike innocence in you ..do you remember the times when you were a kid, and you were gamed for anything? Now, before we do anything, we think not just once, twice, but 100 times whether we should do it..embarrass ourselves?

Beautiful pictures taken by the Olympus Pen cameras

Bouncy ball dispensers which the kids love

A chance to win an Olympus Pen Lite camera by choosing one of these cool and hip designed ones by picking your favourite 5!

Time to play Happy Games!!! First game was the Happy Hula hoop!

This game got many people to wiggle wiggle wiggle, from boys, girls, and even... men!!

The next game drew even more crowd with some having the constipated look ..

Like James right here...wondering whether the lil girl was scared of the balloon popping or James cutting a fart! kekekek

Challengers of all size tried to pop the balloon by sitting on it

This lil girl was awesome! She participated in both games and definitely got rewarded for it...(a ticket for two to watch any movie of  her choice)

Talking about happy photography, would like to show off my new Olympus Pen Lite, a huge upgrade from my compact camera! Say No to blurry pictures! Yay!!!

Catch the difference? Between the first and second picture? Now I can set my art effects via my camera to create the feeling that I want. A DSLR quality image which can be enhanced via art filters and bracketing from the camera itself..cool eh?

I basically wrote this post to share with you guys that happiness should be continuous and not an occasional matter. Keep the innocence, laughing, and smiling. And from this event, it's good to see even adults joining in, the ones that will let loose in life! Not only do you live longer, you enjoy life more....Happiness is not a situation but a choice...choose to be happy! Be positive rather than negative... so many things you can do to turn that frown upside down..:)

Do drop by to say hi and be a "kid" once again if you are around Mid Valley. Will be there till Sunday.

Inhumane or just human nature?

The incident that just happened in China with Yue Yue, a toddler has caused an international uproar. Before I continue, if you don't already know what happened, check this video out:

Was a recent scene that sparked interest in China, and not for good reason. A 2 year old toddler was knocked by a van(hit and run), bleeding on the street, and 18 passer-bys actually walked past her when she was bleeding and not help untill a garbage collector saw her and decided to call for help. It got worse when her legs got rolled over again a second time around. She passed away two days ago.

As many of you who read my blog may know, I am currently a PhD student in developmental psychology. Many readers and friends alike have asked me to actually start writing a psychology related blog but I haven't got the time(excuses! I know) and still don't. But after watching and reading about Yue Yue, I'vd decided to come up with my "psychology related posts" from time to time. Tell me your thoughts on it ok?

Psychology 101 begins...... (LOL)

From a psychological perspective, why didn't those bystanders help Yue Yue when she was lying there? My first thought of the reason was the Bystander effect. What is that?

It's when people in general (Yes, Humans which mean anyone of you reading this) do not offer any help when other people are present. The worst part is, that the rate of helping decreases when the amount of people increases because they don't want to assume responsibility if they help which leads to the other psychological term "diffusion of responsibility". Many people think "There's so many people already, I am sure someone will help". The other fact is that people don't think it is important enough because other people are not helping as well.

A woman died on the New York hospital floor for an hour before being found that she was dead even when there were people there

I am not trying to justify for the incident that happened with Yue Yue but so many news channel and newspaper say it's because of the declining morality in China, etc. BUT so many other similar incidents have happened before, many more in other countries such as the USA. Can you imagine that 60 women were stripped and groped in New York Central park by agressive and drunk men and no one helped? OMG!

Here is another scary case  of a girl being abducted:

With Yue Yue's case, it was another bystander effect that happened at the cost of a toddler's life. In a way, it's not a case of morality but rather human nature because it has been shown time and time again that people don't help especially when there are tons of people around. What you can do instead of being shocked and saying nasty things about others is to actually HELP when it happens and to educate people about this effect that actually occurs.

And...when it comes time to NOT be involved, these Malaysians do the total opposite....LOL

Hope it helped. I would love emails and comments of what happened and would a "Psychology related series of posts" be helpful?

A taste of Japan in Malaysia

A new eatery I chanced upon thanks to Christian's recommendation is located in a an unorthodox area in Bangsar. It's a shophouse but there's only one row of it in the midst of a residential area.......

From the outside alone, you can tell that the inside will be very cute and artsy, just what I like!True enough, I actually felt like I was in a cafe in Japan when I stepped in, with art and cute accessories decorating the wall as you can see in the pictures

Even had an old school bike! Marry Poppins era..not like I've been there...BUT, that's how I imagine it to be.. *winkz*

Dotted with small tables and chair

Besides the cute ornaments, they sell accessories and clothes as well..how smart of them to actually double over as a boutique! Use the accessories and clothes to decorate the wall....creative!

My expectations of the food was really high because I expected it to be tasty Japanese cuisine...but the pictures online(I took it from their site) was not like the real thing..

Both the omelette rice with curry and katsu don looks good above right? When my dishes came, it didn't look that way at all(I forgot to take the pictures..my bad!) and the taste was just mediocre. My Japanese roommate in Hawaii could actually cook similar tasting food as what I ordered, and he has never cooked before we lived together...

Tofu cake - tasty for tofu lovers but Ben didn't like it because he thought it tasted "weird"

I can safely say that what I just wrote about the food is based on my love and experience with Japanese food. To put it simply, the Japanese food cooked tasted like home cooked food, and it wasn't "outstanding" home cooked food even. However, that was just the dished that I've tried, I heard the rest of their dessert is tasty especially the molten lava cake with ice cream, so you can definitely try the others before you make a decision. The ambience and decor makes you feel like you are in Japan, and that is a plus point already. Maybe my expectations for the food were really high to begin with which resulted in my reviews above but don't take my word for it. Please go and try it out for yourself!

This is a link to their website HERE or you can find them at one of their two locations:

No 1, Lorong Kurau, 59100, Bangsar, KL.

My little product review on a miracle beauty drink(Brands Innershine OPC)

[Product review]

Thanks to Innershine OPC, I now have fair and radiant skin :)

I now realize how important smooth, and youthful skin is because having to wear make-up daily for shoots and hosting jobs actually clogs up my pores. As I have sensitive skin, anything I drink or eat may result in a reaction with a break out on my face *gasps*, but I actually found a miracle beauty drink which is Innershine OPC. It allows me the liberty to drink it once a day, keeps me regenerated with antioxidants, AND looking good. Plus, it tastes like berry juice but much better which keeps me coming back for more!! J

If you like this product and my review of Innershine OPC so far, please support my post by clicking “like” HERE or on this link, http://www.innershine.com.my/opc/contest.html! Gracias!

Huge oktoberfest Celebration @ One Utama

[Advertorial]

It keeps getting bigger, and better, and much more fun! From my first Oktoberfest event to the second one just days after at the old carpark of One Utama. There was a huge tent set up outdoors to accomodate 2,500 party goers!

All the imported German Beers came in a make-shift bar with individual taps to accomodate the massive influx of people through the night.... Many of my friends, celebrities, and the general public attended.

With my sweet girlies from high school

Great picture with Michelle

The guys all drinking happily

And of course, the hip MD of Carlsberg who raps and the MHB hotties!
As you can see from the pictures above, every one had a litre of beer in their hands...so no one goes thirsty!

The performances this time was like a concert with a huge stage in the middle, and a "mosh pit"area to the front of the stage for people to dance.....

Imagine the energy the German band had, they performed for a few hours almost non-stop!

Even the hostesses were getting in on it

With the crowd who went crazy that night

The 25,000 people who each got to take home an Oktoberfest mug after drinking the beer

My favourite performer being a traditional German Opera singer?

That night, another added feature was the games available for guests...

Dunking game

Poor guy, even a child could hit the target.... he did a great job though..all smiles even after getting dunked for the 100th time?

The other popular game was to test your strength, many men wanted to show off their muscles and clearly partaked in it! Some doing not so well..... This one lady had guts and even hit it pretty hard *cheers*

Towards the end of the night, many people were already drunk by 11pm because the event started at 5pm...

William was downing his fourth one....
So I could get my "trophy" which is the free mug that comes with every purchase of beer!! Yay!!!!

The night was a blast especially when Oktoberfest was on Carlsberg's side as it was raining heavily from about 10-12am...everyone was stuck and...what happens then???? More drinking and partying of course!!!!

For those who missed out, don't worry, there are more events this month which you can find out on their page HERE !!! Quickly "like" it to find out more details about their upcoming events and to enter their competition for a Beer tour in Germany baby!!!

Inspired by Passion

Although it is long, I encourage you to read it or at least watch the video!

Being a Phd student in developmental psychology and now meeting many people in the entertainment industry, I would say that I've met many types of people, from all walks of life to open my eyes to different situations and conditions.

The past year taught me even more, introducing me to a whole new dimesion of people from the media, events, and entertainment circle. Honestly, making a decision to continue my last two years doing research in Malaysia was a huge and scary decision for me, not because I was scared I wasn't going to finish, but whether I would fail in my pursuit to have my own talkshow on important social and psychological issues that will touch many lives, and waste more time when I could finish my PhD earlier. When I first came back, I heard no end from my father and grandparents to find a 9 to 5 job(Give me a break already), but they couldn't understand pursuing a career for passion because we are taught to strive for stability and following the grind.

A few people and signs kept me pursuing both careers whilst back here, and I am always open to new ideas and inspiration, this post is basically about two things(one a person, the other a story) that has inspired me to continue on my journey to pursue my passion and I hope it will too for all of you out there.

The first being the owner of the Art Cafe in SS2... why?

First, the only way I chanced upon this restaurant is through the magazine Haven, and you can never find it because it is in a housing area without any signboard....

Basic furnishings with the menu on the board

Decorated by his artwork

The two dishes and dished that I've tried out was single-handedly cooked by Christian Lai himself, way better than fine-dining in restaurants

The cherry on top of a priceless restaurant, the owner himself.

Christian Lai(above) inspired me with his passion for life and how he pursues it. He is the epitome of "living in the now" and not greedy for money. He originally came back to Malaysia 3 years ago and opened an art gallery. While working, he started baking pies for himself because he needed to eat freshly baked pies rather than processed ones. His customers loved it, which spurred him to start a small cafe next to the gallery. His cafe business burgeoned and was extremely successful. One day, he decides to just closed it down because it was too commercialized and he was losing passion for cooking. He opened a second one in a house, and it did well again. He closed it down again and I managed to go to his third one which he only opens if you reserve a day in advance.

He asks you to reserve a day in advance because he might just take off for a few months to travel. He only opens his restaurant when he is around, and he clearly cooks for passion, I can purely taste it in his food itself. Plus, he says he just wants to meet new people than enjoy his food, which drives him to continue the cafe at his house. A person driven to live and enjoy life day by day, rather than working on something he doesn't want to do, and being detached from materialism. He can switch off his phone while travelling for a few months alone, he's unreachable! Who can do that in this modern age?

The second thing that inspired me, a simple commencement speech by Steve Jobs which my father insisted I share with all of you...and I share his sentiments nonetheless.

You can read it HERE or spend the time watching it if you are a visual person

What I took home from both events that stumbled into my life in one day will definitely keep me moving on. I promise you that what I am doing isn't easy, sometimes it's pretty challenging to say the least. Anyone pursuing a PhD will tell you the same with as many as 50% or more dropping out of their PhD program around the world. It gets even more difficult to pursue a career in the entertainment world because its mostly based on "who you know" but I would say it's the passion to eventually touch many youth's lives that keep me going and stay on in Malaysia.

In a nutshell, pursue your passion even more so when you are young, have a clear direction, and try as many things as possible, and even make mistakes. Don't give up and be jaded with life over one mistake because every mistake is a lesson learnt.

As Steve Jobs said " Stay hungry, stay foolish"
