Transforming trash into fashion - iStyle KLIA

Didn't get enough of the haute and eclectic designs at Malaysia International Fashion week 2011???? Don't fret because there's more to come with iStyle Fashion KLIA !! Why I like the whole idea of this competiton? It's because it is in support of "green living" and LOCAL TALENT!

iStyle KLIA  is a competition in search of ONE talented and young eco-friendly designer to pave the way in enviromental friendly wearable designs which are also fashionable. Each team consists of a designer, fashion stylist, and publicist. Out of all submissions, the final 6 teams has been selected. Congratulations to the finalists:)

Besides the ongoing istyle competition running through the whole month, there are also competitions for the rest of us, not gifted with fahsion designing flair to partake in. The first being Snap my iStyle.

Mechanis are simple, simply find the FlyFm troupers and snap a picture with the iStyle logo board(taken by the crew) and they will upload your picture on the iStyle FB album. If you win, prizes will be mailed to you.  Now, I will be there with the FlyFM troupers this Thursday to support the cause, somewhere in ss15, so do come and support me as well:) Not only will you get freebies from 1.40-2.00pm on December 1st, Thursday, BUT the organizer has agreed to allow whoever that shows up to support the cause by providing a "chit-chat" session for all of us!!!!!! Do dress in blue, so I can recognize you as one of my readers OR you can carry a recycled paper bag.

Mark you calendars alright this Thursday:

- Thursday, 1st December
- 1.40-2.00pm
- SS15(in front of Inti college Subang Jaya)
- Dress in blue or Carry a recycled paper bag

The second competition is istyle Spontaneous :

It is open to the public, all you have to do is be the Most creative by transforming your trash into fashion styles, snap a picture of it, and tag the picture on the istyle FB album. There will be quite a few winners, the grand prize is a blackberry pplaybook 16gb!!!! Check out some of my "attempts"

Instead of using a bag and wasting money on one...why not just use..

a recyclable paper bag?!?

And....

instead of throwing away your ribbon from presents...

You can use it as a headband for your hair

There are so many more things you can do with your trash...recycling, switching it into artwork, and fashion is also a fun alternative!! If you are in support of eco-freindly living and artwork, you can find out more here at www.istyleklia.com.my OR check out their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/istyleklia

See you this Thursday!!

Payless Shoe source is in Malaysia

I can't believe it...I would never expect Payless Shoe Source to actually reach Malaysian shores. One of my really good friends in Hawaii, Kendra Hanagami and I used to frequent payless in Hawaii just to check out what new shoes they have and whether they had discounts for the ones we were eyeing previously. She was crazy over shoes( a shoeholic), and I became just a lil crazy along with her sometimes...LOL!

Boy, was I excited when I received the invitation for the first Payless outlet in Malaysia which is located in Sunway Pyramid... Here are some pictures for those shoe, heels, sandals, and slipper fanatics out there!

A sneak peek of the store from the outside

Opening speech where you actually get to preview the brands available in the store such as Airwalk, Zow & Zac, Montego Bay Club, Above the Rim, Lower East Side and many more

Restlessly chilling out with the girls from PersonEdge before heading in for a shopping spree

Are you guys ready to see what's inside???????? I was extremely ready after a dull and unorganized launch.....

Do you girls love these shoes?????? wait..there's more!

People rushing in to the shelves... there are basically rows and rows of shoes by sizes...and it looks exactly like the store you would see in the USA! *phew*

Told you there was an endless sea of shoes, slippers, heels, wedges, sandals, you name it, they have it!

Thanks to Payless and their generous gift vouchers, both of us got a pair of heels each for almost free!!!

Stylish black close toed heels for Leona

Christian Siriano's collection of heels! Don't you just love it?????

There you go guys, the exterior and interior of the store for your viewing pleasure if you don't know what it's about. Payless makes life easier for shoe fanatics and buyers because every pair of shoe is already in their boxes according to sizes. You don't need assistance from the sales people to take sizes for you :) Love hassle-free shopping? try payless shoe source!!

Keith Kee's 10th Anniversary Fashion Gala

When you think fashion, you instantly imagine New York Fashion week, London fashion week, models strutting down those runways with designers to the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Donatello Versace and more.

This time, no imagination was needed because I went to one of Malaysia's notable couture designers, Keith Kee's 10th Anniversary fashion Gala. The past 10 years marked his achievements and how far he has come in our fashion industry! *Congratulations Keith Kee*

The fashion gala was a star studded one with many local celebrities gracing the red carpet at the pre-lounge area. Best part was the fact that everyone was dressed to impress with the "Oscar themed" dress code except for ME! My mouth was agape when I saw the long dresses, some with trails behind, beautifully hand crafted ones even.......Was too busy to get one and I thought people could wear short dresses(GULP) to Oscars no?

Lovely ladies in their beautiful gowns with Andy

A mountain of photographers waiting for the show to begin

Took a picture with Josiah who's also from Hawaii and the Cleo Bachelor 2011 while waiting.. Get the similarity in a way? I lived in Hawaii for the past 6 years and am the Cleo Covergirl 2011...hehehehe(can be pretty lame sometimes):p

The event kick started with Belinda Chee and Chris Tong introducing Keith Kee and his beautiful designs. He made the gowns you are about to see from "recycled material". It's not the traditional recyclable material such as bottles, cans, and stuff, but from scraps and clothes from dresses he previously made but didn't use in the end. Creative and smart fashion designer, he saved it all up knowing he will use it again in the future:)

There were world class performers too such an amazingly talented beat boxer, Shawn Lee collaborating with Dennis Lau on the violin as the music for the models while they are strutting down the runway. And that's what I call INNOVATIVE! The other music collaboration was between Dennis Lau and Lee An from Korea.

Here is a peek into some of my favourite designs which impressed the socks outta me!

The Guest of honour, Keith Kee himself taking the stage during the finale

Not only were Keith Kee's designs beautiful, but it can be worn for different types of occasions especially the short ones. If I own one of those short dresses, I'm pretty sure I can wear them to gala dinners too *winkz* . Besides the creativity, and brilliance behind the designer, another thing that impressed me was his humility and gratefulness to 10 groups of people(to mark the 10th anniversary)he credited durings his "thank you" speech. He took the time to mentioned each and everyone of them, from his parents, to his customers and supporters.

Keep up the good work Keith Kee!

The age of superheroes - DC Comics Flagship store launch

Is it Batman ? Is it superman? Is it wonderwoman? Or is it the Green Lantern? Don't guess anymore...because we caught a glimpse of them live at the DC comics event recently held in Pavilion!!! Not lying, this was the best event I have attended so far.... you will find out why further down....keeping the anticipation for you guys..hehehe...DC comics basically arranged a weeklong superhero celebration to commemorate the launch of both the movie and their flagship store with a whole host of activities, such as...........

Life size displays of the DC comics superheroes!! Batman and Superman to the rescue..

Batman and Joker.... heard from a friend that once Pavilion closes at night, it's pretty scary to look at the Joker because it look so real...GULP!

Green Lantern wall displays..

They even had miniature displays throughout the whole event area! DC comics buff would have loved to be there...like how Oscar did snapping away like a little fanboy!!!

To begin the event for the night......

A dance performance by Joker's circus performers?? I somehow know they are related to Joker but am not sure how??????

Ta-Da...and we have Joker popping out after the performance..Man...this guy impersonating Joker makes the character so REAL!

Hawk Girl live!!! Had other superheroes too such as Batman, Wonder woman, Green Lantern.....the muscles on some of the male superheroes were BULGING!

Faizal Tahir performing two songs that night.... he is one of the brand ambasadors for DC comics... he had so many fans who bought a spot in the event that night...his pair of gladiators which he threw to the crowd landed on my head...I was rather dazed...someone screamed and shoved me aside to pick it up! shucks!!!

Desiree Tan also performed!! She's one good singer... getting interviewed by Hansen Lee after her performance....

To launch the Green Lantern movie, they also had a gigantic Green Lantern ring display which can circulate round in front of the stage area.... pretty cool stuff huh?

You know why I think this is the best event I have been to this year??? Besides the organization, layout, and performances, what made it different was the fact that everyone was given a DC comics shirt to wear before entering... Since everyone had similar looks.... "No one looks better or worse than the other" according to a friend which I agree with.... so no fussing about...

"Did I look good?"

Plus, the shirts were really good quality and the PR staff were diligent enough to give us correct shirt sizes..like they remembered mine was XS!!

Then, the DC Comics fashion show revealed their latest collections... wootz wootz~

Can you guess who this is???? Nerd look at first....

SUPERMAN!!! Hillarious when you are there live and viewing what he did but pretty cool when he ripped the shirt off halfway while walkind down the runway...If only he could fly..

Supergirl and Batwoman? Liking the schoolgirl Supergirl!

HOT STUFF! Wonderwoman in her gold attire...

Bad boy looking Superman? I thoroughly loved this outfit..don't ask me why?!!

America GIRL????????????? Look at those legs!!

Green Lantern attire for females... the black pumps definitely amps up the look! Or is it her legs?

The finale for the whole event(what everyone was anticipating) was a 6 day 3 nights package to NEW YORIK CITY baby!!!!!!!! Two packages were given out, one for the media and the other for the crowd... Guess none of us from MHB were that lucky that night! But congratulations to the lucky two who did :)

Of course we had to take pictures at the photo wall before we left!! These guys here were the PR company for the event and they did a great job...everyone told me it was a fun and interesting event *Good Job Brandthink*

Collected movie tickets for Green Lantern at the DC comics store(level 5 of Pavilion) from the female staff at Brandthink! They always look sweet and are soo polite which always make me want to take pictures with them...lol

Us in our DC comics attire and goodie bags(had so many goodies inside literally from shirts, to keychains, even a mouse and mousepad!) in front of the store...

On that fateful day of May 31st, you would see many people in Superman t-shirts walking around, all thanks to DC comics!! The event itself has made me a HUGE fan of their merchandise especially their attire...Since I love baby T's so much, I am setting out to collect each and everyone of their DC comics t-shirts..I now have Green Lantern and Superman...hhmm...the next one should be Wonderwoman?
