Istyle KLIA Grand Finale

Remember my previous posts on Istyle KLIA happening the past month???? The theme was "transforming trash into fashion?"

Well....guess what? After a heated competition between the 6 teams, the grand finale was held on the 18th of December at KLIA airport itself. Besides the horrendous traffic jam to KLIA on a Monday night after work( you know how bad that can be), we arrived just in the nick of time to even eat some desserts!!!!

Ashley and I all decked out with our goodie bags

My new boyfriend, Ivan and his beautiful mom

The event kickstarted with a few speeches, and....

Prem and Nadia's(FlyFM Pagi Rock Crew) own version of transforming trash into fashion... There was a...er aluminium fairy? a robot head, and a Puma outfit?!?! You guys should definitely stick to being announcer's on FlyFM!! LOL!!

The Awesome opening dance which seem like STOMP to me... Using recycled material as instruments...

The fashion show finally begins with children parading accessories made for the competition which you can read HERE. I have chosen my favourite designs for you guys to take a look at...If not, you will be bombarded with endless pictures of models(I know..who doesn't want that?)

After that, it was the adults turn.... the designs I've picked as my favorites was actually based on whether it could be worn on a daily basis and how it looked on a person...was it functional?!?

The next bit was getting more exciting because there was a guest artiste, and it was closer to the announcement of  the winners!!!

This band who was inspired by preserving nature was the opening act FOR?????

Zainal Abidin, if you don't know who he is...I am sure you know the song....Hijau????? Loved it when I was younger!!

There was a special contest for the 6 teams...which was to design bags which were enviromentally friendly and could be used as hand- carry's in KLIA!!! These were my top 3...here's why?

Looks good as a luggage bag and very user friendly

Compact but can be extended to an even bigger size..don't girls just love those bags???

This silver bag is the perfect size to fit duty free items in it!!! Plus, it looks unisex

The finale designs for the fashion show was to showcase designs made earlier on by the contestants which was actually the best ones...

This outfit for the guy is stunning and very fashionable..I am not sure whether it just looks good on  this model??

This dress is an amazing piece of artwork because it's not too flashy but has the subtle designs of nature in the front *me like*

After viewing some of the lovely designs(some were too Over the Top because you will never wear it out normally),I guessed that it was a very tough decisions for the judges.  And the winners are...........

ME!!!!! No way, I can't design for nuts...But I unexpectedly won a Samsung Galaxy Tab for being Istyle KLIA's Best Blogger!! YAY!!

Now, for the real winners....

3 in Style as the 2nd runner up

Elite 25 as the 1st runner up(I kinda guessed they would be in the top 3)

The winner is none other than Xylem!!!!

No one left empty handed because all 6 teams got certificates for participating!!!

If you want to take a look at what Malaysia has got in terms of fashion designers... you can take a closer look at this video:

I was nothing short of impressed at the effort put in by all 6 teams and also the designs produced! Malaysian designers and publicists can definitely go far.. Congratulations to all participating teams!! Watch out for the next Jimmy Choo who will be from Malaysia!!!

Cross Roads AGAIN?

It's 11.40pm right now on a Friday night. This is going to be a one of a kind post which I never had the chance to pen/type down as I always have this excuse of saying "I'm busy"!

At this point in my life, I am basically at another cross roads after a year of being back in Malaysia. This is when you look to the right and weigh your options and to the left and do another weighing of your options in life.

Am usually the happy-go-lucky person that keeps going and going until my body tells me to stop which is actually happening right now. I am truly upset with my health and body because....no one will believe this even if I said it..

"I've been sick for ONE WHOLE MONTH"!

The same recurring symptoms, the cough, flu, sore throat and fever. I get well, and the next day, the same thing happens. That is why I started reflecting on what has lead me to where I am right now in my life. Do I want to continue down the path I am going? Pursuing my vision to unleash the potentials of youth in Malaysia through the media or simply pack my bags and go back to the USA where life is just one simple road..... get the PhD and do research or Teach?

But the past week, I met someone who actually help direct me somewhere, a person with her own life goals and vision because she has endured hardship when she was young. A person with ambition, but has taste hunger before because her grandparents didn't have enough money to feed her. A person that worked a full-time job when she was doing her degree in Accounting. She's the same age as me, and has achieved alot, a business in Cambodia, and Malaysia, and a full-fledge restaurant now. She's also a chartered accountant! She tells me....it took alot of HARD WORK and PASSION to get where she is. The best thing about her, she's sincere!!!

After meeting her, and now mulling through my thoughts, I am determined more than ever to continue down the path I've set to do. It's still a wonder to me how many people who meet me are interested and impressed with my visions, but no one gave me any direction or even helped me through it. The worst are those who know how to help but never utter a word of guidance. There were of course my close friends, boyfriend, and family to support me. Plus, my readers and people that I've worked with that believed in me, THANK YOU ALL!! Please continue believing that I can achieve what I've set out to do. Will put action where my mouth is.

Back to square one of last year, I think it's time for me to set a new timeline for next year and continue manifesting my goals. Being the "over-achiever" that I am, I will admit that I am stressed out to say the least the past month on how to move forward, and that's probably why I can't get well. Many or rather, close people around me would think that I've achieved quite a fair bit this past year.....my personal list which YOU don't have to read:p

Mystical New year's Eve at Encorp - The Strand

[Advertorial]

I am not sure whether the rest of you have the perennial problem of wondering...

"What to do for New Year's Eve?"

Be it in Hawaii, USA Mainland, Singapore, or even my own country, Malaysia, I always wonder what to do because I am not one for crowds that like to push and shove me (if you are one of those and do that to me at this upcoming event, I will be pissed because you are extremely rude! just saying...heheheh) from all sides. To be honest with you, what I did last year may actually be pathetic to many but I enjoyed it.....I stayed in with my boyfriend, and counted down with him rather than being stuck in a traffic jam:p

This year, I've decided to venture out after much insistence from friends to attend the latest New Year's Eve venue at Encorp, The Strand in Kota Damansara which is perfect for me because it's near my house!!! There will be a variety of local talents performing from...

Mizz Nina

A crowd favourite as a local and international artiste alike! If you don't already know her, she's THE Malaysian singer that collaborated with Flo-Rida on a song called "Take Over" !!! You probably hear her songs on all your local radio stations quite a fair bit. When I first came back and tuned into Hitz.FM, I was listening to a song called "What You Waiting For" and was wondering

"Which American artiste sang this???"

Boy, was I surprise when I found out it was a Malaysian artiste...you can check out one of her Youtube video's here:

What You Waiting For featuring Colbie O' Donnis
Joe Flizzow

Originally the other half of Too Phat, he decided to come out on his own to be a solo Hip-Hop artiste(and what a great decision he made). Ingeniously raps in English and Malay in his songs, such as the one from his album "President" entitled "Do it, DUIT". Also an entrepeneur in his own right, as he is the CEO of Kartel records.

You can tell from this music video that this guy has style and swagger, with his cool music videos. Reminds me of Jay-Z actually...

Do It, Duit for you to get a taste of Hip-Hop before the party

Dennis Lau and Shawn Lee

If you want a different tune to party too like me, you will also be entertained by an extraordinary duet team who consists of  Shawn Lee, Malaysia's No.1 Beatboxer and Dennia Lau, a violinist or rather known as Lan Ciao in Nasi Lemak 2.0. I truly like their blend of human voice with violin complementing it as they can create a eclectic tune to what would be rather plain if they were to do it individually.

A sneak peek to what's in store

There are other performers too such as Pop Shuvit, Rezza Salleh, and Najwa! The DJ acts for the night so you get a variety will be Aurology, Hypeembeats + Jee Hoe and Xu. You guys won't be bored..that's for sure!

Are you guys excited to bring in the New Year with some of my other girlfriends from Malaysia's Hottest bloggers and I?

Besides helping some of you solve the age old question of how or where to celebrate New Year's Eve, come check out your favourite local artiste perform, 3D projection countdown with some cool laser lights and other performers such as contortionists and aeralists flying about to make the event all the more FUN to bring in the Dragon Year!

Admission is FREE and it starts at 6pm. Find out more on www.facebook.com/encorpstrand

See you there!!

If you like JOGOYA, you will like the latest Bubble Tea - Macoto Tea

Don't groan just yet if you are thinking "Not another Bubble Tea"!!!!

This one is a little different in terms of what the shop has to offer besides Bubble Tea and the brand it actually originates from... Have you heard of the famous Japanese Buffet in Starhill Gallery called.......

Jogoya????

The one that serves everything from Japanese food to Western food all under one roof... if you are wondering how big the dessert variety is..take a look at the pictures below

A whole refriegerator for Jelly

What cakes do you want? Cheese? Chocolate?

Even have a section for cookies?!?!

Ice Cream and Waffle

Your fruit juices, ice blended, slush?

Telling you about what Jogoya has to offer is just the tip of the iceberg. As you can tell from their extensive dessert choices, they won't dissapoint when it comes to other food and beverage outlets they decide to open right????

This time, they have decided to venture into the trending Bubble Tea business by bringing in a new brand directly from Taiwan called Macoto Tea.

Some of us invited for the launch were one of the first to taste their Original Macoto tea

According to the founder of Jogoya, Mr. Chiang Cheng Nan, the milk tea's need to be consumed within four hours of preparation and everything is prepared fresh daily. All machines are directly imported from Taiwan as well! And, that's what you call preserving ORIGINALITY!

Before you can think "isn't it the same as Chatime then", they aren't because they will be selling other Taiwanese delicacies which can be eaten as well. *phew*

Finally, a bubble tea place that sells food and not just drinks. I am one that always go hungry and do not like to wait for just one drink, it's a waste of precious time if you ask me. When I found out that Macoto tea outlets were actually selling food as well, I was over the moon:)

What are they selling besides bubble tea?

Taiwanese Egg rolls which comes in many flavours  such as chocolate, matcha, sesame, coffee, and the original one. In my opinion, it tastes good with the bubble tea!

In addition, they will also sell a variety of pineapple tarts next year with your milk tea.

Some of us with the two gentleman(one next to me : Director of Macoto Tea, Mr. Yap Zhi Chau and the founder of Jogoya, Mr. Chiang) who were so kind to tell us more about what Macoto tea is all about

Their first outlet has already opened in ss15, and there will be 30 more opening next year. You got that right, 30?!?! I guess when they say extensive, they really mean it! Why not just open 30 all at once right? They are giving out great promotions now, buy 1 Macoto Tea, get 2 free egg rolls! It goes really well together y'all!

There are other flavours at the outlets such as their "popping balls" drink which contains fruit juice in each ball? LOL! That is a MUST TRY!

In terms of milk tea comparisons, the pearls are comparable to Chatime but the flavour of the tea tastes better than Chatime. In my opinion, the plus point to making this place different will be the Taiwanese desserts offered as they did mentioned that pushing for the milk tea is not their priority...

P.S. If you don't want to purchase Macoto tea at their outlets, you can drink it for free if you eat the buffet at Jogoya!!!
