Belvedere DKNY Event- Where Fashion meets music!

What would you expect from a fashion show in Malaysia, or in general??? Most people(due to watching alot of TV), usually expect fashion shows to be more like New York fashion week, with the glitz, glamour, beautiful people,etc..... AND of course..the fashion....... When I heard that I got passes to attend DKNY's fashion meets music event...I was soooo excited as I guessed that the event will be stunning and different from the others...Firstly, because it was held at TUDM(Malaysia's airforce base!!!)....and guess what? They clearly did not dissapoint;)

Walking in to the hangar where the event was held, saw it a mile away...... the bright blue lights!!weee...

At the entrance.. Instead of the usual female usherers..they had hot "pilots" registering guests in!!!! A friend of mine was squeling over the men in uniforms:p

All of us gals decked out for the theme of the night "New York chic"!

Runway models in the new DKNY collection!

The set up as you enter.....I was impressed! Imagine building everything from scratch with the runway and bright lights...eeexxxttreemmeelly NEW YORK!

I personally loved this part because the models walked out from the mouth of an airplane..

Joey G, the dj for the night, music was gooodddd......

The event was partly sponsored by Belvedere vodka...so free flow the whole night... for those "drinkaholics"(thta's what I called em')

The bar area.....look at all the thirsty people:)

An interesting part about having the event at the airforce base is the fact that all guests can take pictures with the helicopters and planes..like this one!

Me going camera happy..hehehe....

And my final picture was with this huge propeller plane!!! There were many more lined up as you walk towards the hangar...so you could take your pick of which ones you wanted to take pictures with...I thought that was neat!!

Given the presentation, a sea of familiar faces and beautiful people, the fashion show, and after-party, I was truly impressed and it  actually meets my expectations of New York's fashion weeks events!!!! Can't wait for the next one!!!:)

Skytrex adventure - Thrills, spills and heights?!?

Have you guys ever heard of Skytrex adventures in Taman Pertanian Malaysia?!? Well....I am sure a lot of you have not because many of my friends usually ask me...."Huh? What's that?" And me..being a person horrible at describing things, usually communicate it the wrong way(e.g., you know..it's like obstacle courses in a jungle....,*then, I get weird looks*)So, without confusing people anymore, I have decided to take some pictures and post it up for you to see...for a clearer understanding of what it is!!!!

Look how colorful we were..so bright eyed and bushy tailed( we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into:p)

In the little bus that takes you from the entrance to skytrex, pretty scenic route on the way..

The easiest challenge (Little Thrill)...Us being the smart Alec's that we are....decided to take the middle level course because we were thinking "Little Adventure" sounds "too easy"....but were too afraid for the extreme one...Man.....some of "us" probably wished we took the Little one huh??!!??heheheh...

We got training on this site before heading out..we had to learned how to use the safety harnesses and clips...very safe....Even this mini "challenge" was scary for me already...

The guys...gearing up in their harnesses..
Our instructor who gave us crystal clear directions on how to use everything... Are you ready???? Now.... are some pictures of what these challenges entail.................

These were one of the challenges... you basically climb up a swinging ladder to get to a platform...and you are literally going through different challenges such as this one...BUT the catch is..you are doing it on top of trees.............3-4 storeys off the ground..... there are some where you swing from log to log to get to the other tree...feels like tarzan.....

This was the main ladder you climb up on to get to the top!!!! This was the hardest for me....It requires upper body strength which I lack*sob*..Halfway through..I wanted to go back down...but I realized I can't..so I calculated it would be easier if I continued up to the top...Thank God I did!!! Because it was such a great experience...:)

The guys goofing around after we completed the Big Thrill!!!!! Now..as you can see...they are pros at using harnesses....can probably go rock climbing too:P

Before I went, I basically did some research by asking around and checking out their website....To be honest, it was scarier than I thought..I was thinking "how hard can it be", but you are not just flying foxing from tree to tree but for some of the "challenges"(more like crazy obstacles to me...), you are swinging across planks to get to the other side!!! For those who are really scared halfway through..they have "chicken exits"...really funny!!! But please..if you truly afraid of height, re-think of going and........halfway through..IF you feel like you are going to have a heart attack, please just take the chicken exit...it's not a matter of being "shy" or "ego" or "saving face"..it is just NOT EASY!!! BUUUTTTT..if you do complete it...the feeling of completion and satisfaction is amazing!!!!! Who is up for the extreeemme challenge with me???!!??

Melaka from a different perspective....

Melaka being one of the heritage sites in Malaysia as you(e.g., Malaysians) know, attracts alot of local and foreign tourists alike....me saying this is not to promote Melaka town itself or the historical sites located there...but this post is to share my experiences of being a semi-tourist there for half a day!!!! Mayco, my friend from Argentina came down recently, and because he is a culture and history buff...the first idea that pop into my head was to bring him to Melaka of course....:) And I would like to share my little excursion with you guys...

As we arrived late(6pm), I had to rush Mayco to two of the most important "must-see" places in Melaka which was Kota A'Famosa and the Stadhuys area...Look at the amount of people!!!

One of the doorways, I liked the colonial feel of it...

After climbing up a few flights of stairs...you will arrive at the top where the Dutch and Portugese used as a vantage point to see ships arriving...and there were many tablets inside....While Mayco was inspecting each tablet, me being a just a teensy bored started taking pictures of the surroundings for you guys to see:p

The vantage point...

After the historical places, we walked across the bridge and I stopped short...because this view to me was literally breathtaking.... nostalgic..yet preserved, reminded me of Venice... don't you think?

We headed to Harper's bar/restaurant for drinks with my parents.... which I felt like I had to highlight!!!!

The restaurant's view from where we sat..

The walk in to the end of the restaurant...the bar on the left..

What I looooooveed about this place was that, it was by the river..and you can sit there with a nice drink overlooking the scenery...*loves*..Trust me...it's worth it...

The decor was modern, yet they have preserved elements, such as the Chinese tablets by the wall...

Mummy and me..

Dad has been here three times...and he always swears to come back..now I know why?!

And... when you sit down...you receive the best service from the manager of the restaurant himself..Mr.Jantzen..he was not only attentive...but jovial:)

Here is the contact information for Harper's restaurant and lounge if you want to head there for a drink on your visit to Melaka:

No.2, 4, Lorong Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka.
06-2866592

So...why you may ask about the title "Melaka from a different persepective" right?!? It's because as I grew older, I started seeing Melaka as a place to go for half a day..to visit Jongkers street(to buy and eat "specialty" food and things), enjoying the scenery and weather there, as apposed to when I was young...I will whine and cringe everytime my parents wanted to go there on a family trip... It does show you how we learn to start appreciating things and places we never did when we were younger..enjoying life every step of the way..:)

Splash Party @ Luna Bar!

Experience Miami style parties right in the heart of KL city center!!!! Amazing as it sounds...it's true...well..that is how it felt like for Kendra and I. I am sure alot of you have watched CSI: Miami and have seen the pool parties shown right?!? That is how the Splash party event @ Luna Bar felt like....I wish I was exaggerating, but once you get there, you will get what I mean...... Imagine Luna bar during the day(hard to even fathom right???), in which you actually get to use the pool, see the skyline clearly, and the weather was perfect for a dip! Plus, it wasn't too crowded, which was perfect for swimming and chatting with friends.....that's the life:p
The dj was spinning his tunes...which suited the whole environment...

The bar during the day....... And may I add, once you pay at the entrance, you basically get free flow of their house wine, and drinks at the bar....??!!???
Awesome combination...free flow of drinks plus, a delicious spread! You can literally "eat, drink, and be merry":)
Our greediness... but it was really really tasty!

Kendra being a Hawaiian told me she never experienced such a party before...and she even said... "Man, this is the life"...hehehehehe..and I agree with her....!Of course...the food was a big +!!!!

Look at the beach ball behind me!!! I was soooo upset I didn't bring my bikini....I didn't know that when they said "splash" party...we could really swim inside... I just assumed it was  like many parties in Malaysia, where they say...it's a "costume party", but no one comes in costumes......but this time..it was real...so many people were jumping into the pool............*sob*
With a group of the Malaysian HOTTEST bloggers..... they were all smart enough to bring bikinis!!!

To surmise....this event is the epitome of "Sun, Sand and sea" but in the middle of KL city, nested high amongst the buildings:) I will definitely go back next month, and hopefully be able to swim this time around......

A perfect Sunday in Singapore! From a beautiful brunch to F1!

How would you usually imagine your Sunday's to be? Probably something laid back, where you don't have to exert much energy, and with the weather a little downcast right? For me, the past few weeks, my Sundays have been pretty hectic mostly doing family stuff...but the past weekend, I went down to Singapore for F1, and here is how my perfect Sunday in Singapore went...... everything went so well...even though I was out, I felt happy and rested:)

Started the day with Koi (a popular bubble tea drink in Singapore from Taiwan. People line up an hour for this drink...can you believe it? And Ving was sweet enough to get one for me and Sandy!!:) Tip for those who really want to try it: Start Lining up early!

With our stomach full with pearls and milk tea, we headed to the most secluded breakfast/brunch place in Singapore. I wouldn't have found it as a tourist! This is the view from the outside...lushes aint't it?

It's called Mimolette for all you breakfast/brunch people:)

Sandy and I sitting on the bench outside..felt so Victorian!

My waffles(It looked really good but it wasn't tasty, it actually tasted like Eggo waffles! Can you believe that?!? I was totally dissappointed)

The Egg Benedict.. Alright, but not too my liking, I am too used to the salmon/egg benedict prepared in the USA.....but there are many ways to make egg benedict..so don't rule it out just yet:p

Classic pictures with our food:)

The interior

Loved this Graffitti wall

I would recommend tourists and Singaporeans to try Mimollete because it's really pretty...but I definitely was not impressed with the food. Unless it was a bad cooking day for them or I have wonky taste buds, I suggest you give this place a shot for it's ambience first, and then taste the food for yourselves...

After a nap, I felt all rejuvenated for the Singapore F1!! They were super organized that it literally blew me away! No pushing, you will not get lost, and everywhere is brightly lit! You Go Singapore!

With Karen who was working there:)

Me being "kiasu" decided to book a seat near to the stage to wait for Mariah Carey! Hey, it's a good thing alright? You are still within the F1 circuit where you are basically listening to the race LIVE butt you are watching it from the big screen instead....and we got the view of the Singapore skyline!! Good combo eh?

Butterflies!!!I thought she was going to be late..but she was ON TIME!

What I found really cute was the fact that she had this couch where she would lie down or sit down on when she was tired...and she freely admitted she was a DIVA! Honesty rocks!:)

Due to the heat and crazy amounts of people, we mostly watched her from the big screen because it was still really clear....and I basically went to hear her sing live. She definitely DID NOT dissapoint! Her singing sounds exactly like what you hear on radio or her cd's!

I've got alot of comments from friends thinking I was crazy to go down to Singapore just for F1.........but nope....I disagree! I strongly recommend all Malaysians and Singaporeans to attend one F1 race in Singapore because it is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Not only is it city racing, but it happens at night, much more thrill and excitement! Plus, the circuit was organized so well!!! And of course...this year.... there was Mariah Carey too:p (the cherry on top of an already delicious Apple pie)
