The days leading up to Chinese New Year

I forgot how hectic Chinese New Year preparations can be.......... buying new clothes, cleaning the house and of course, all the food that you can EAT! Means..you are preparing youself to put on weight for two whole weeks....joy!!!! Truthfully, I eat alot and can hardly put on weight and I used to dream of putting it on during chinese new year...hahahaha....but not anymore! But I can't help myself...I still ate ALOT:p

Two weeks back before chinese new year, I got to take a break from working to have a small getaway to Penang with my grandfather, auntie and parents. My grandfather was thoroughly excited to go on this trip, he even planned to buy fishes to put in the tank for Chinese New year....hehehe.... so even when I had an interview, I just couldn't turn my grandfather down...plus, my mom is opening a new office there! One successful businesswoman!:) I can already tell, this is going to be a great rabbit year!

We stayed in the new G hotel.....loving the modern concept

What I looooved the most was when we checked in...they gave each of us a cup of kiwi ice cream!!!~slurp~ Even my aunt liked it....

Our spacious room

The view of the pool from my room

Lounging by the poolside...there was a jacuzzi there too..

When the sun was setting....romantic huh?

I have to complain about one thing though.... Usually, when people go to Penang, they eat hawker food right? Throughout the three days we were there...we only ate restaurant chinese food!!!!! But I understand....we had to eat restaurant food for my grandpa..... Anything for him...:) I know I can go back soon for my char kway teow!

In front of Gurney plaza....I was sooo impressed by that Mall!!!! They had so many stores.....even iora! wow! Smacking myself for underestimating penang malls....

My grandfather buying his Chinese shirt...my grandmother was really good at sewing these old chinese shirts...he was so cute to sit down and check the sewing...:)

Another highlight of my trip was my dinner at Teluk Kumbar seafood restaurant...the view was breathtaking..It's really difficult to find though....it's nestled in between village houses....
Of course..the food was also good....special satay...why? because they dip the meat in the sauce before grilling it.....

Their specialty dish....special "sauce" crab(okay...you read through me...I don't really know the name of the dish...teehee)

The exterior

Family pictures after our lovely meal

Sun setting...I suggest you come here in the evening when the sun is about to set..... It's beautiful!

When I got back to KL, we instantly had my first reunion dinner at Jaya Palace at wisma LYL with my grandmother from my mother's side...

with my cousins and uncle..who's finger is that!?!

Yee Sang(Teochew styles raw fish salad)...for those who aren't Malaysian...this is a popular Chinese new year "appetizer" dish in Malaysia and Singapore in which the whole family gets together to mix everything up...to bring all the luck, success, prosperity and happiness to everyone... and I missed it sooo much when I was in the USA! IT's delicious!

Our waiter wishing us nice proverbs for every piece of salmon, sides, and sauces he put on the yee sang before we "lou sang"(means mixing the dish together)..have basically eaten 6 to 7 times since the start of chinese new year...and still not bored *grin*

Was also granny's birthday...Happy birthday popo! May you have a great year filled with happiness, good health, success and prosperity!

The whole family

Our desserts! sesame balls.......how cute!!!!

Besides the festivities of Chinese New Year...it is truly a time for family and friends to get together to meet and catch up. When you think about it, that's why the city center is so clear because everyone went back to their respective hometowns. However, I do hope the joy of reconnecting with family and friends is not just a once a year thing, but rather a more frequent activity. So what if your hometown is in Alor Setar or even if you are away in USA or UK, your parents are waiting to see and be with you not only during this festive occasion(actually even more so) but everyday...so, I do hope all of you visit your parents more than just once a year.... Here is a link to a very meaningful video:

With hаvin so much content do you evеr гun іnto аny issues of plagorism or cοpyright infringement?
My ωebsite haѕ a lоt of unique content I've either written myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any solutions to help prevent content from being stolen? I'd сеrtainlу aρprеciate it.

I'm really impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one today.
