Absolut Vodka 101

As a teenager, I would usually see my older brother having bottles of alcohol lined up on our kitchen table(sure he still does:p), ready for any house parties that he may have...... There were myriads of alcohol from beers, to wines, to liquor.... but the constants were of course.... Johnnie Walker, Glenmorangie, and the different types of Absolut Vodka.... I remember staring at the Absolut bottles and oohing over the fact they had different flavours!!!! I thought it was sweet tasting......LOL!

No more wondering about it anymore because I recently went to their Absolut Vodka Academy mixer event where they actually had a three hour class on the A to Z of Absolut Vodka!! Creative and Innovative I have to say..... I thought it would be a mixer party like any other alcohol party with everyone mingling....guess not!!!

The set up of the event... two screens and a "lecturer" on Absolut Vodka to the right... Verbose guy and definitely knows his stuff! Like the passion dude!

Was taken in by my surroundings...the event was held in an Art Gallery..you get to view the art all around you while learning!!!! Absorption increased!

Sitting down hastily(was late...GULP!), each of us gets a table with a chart, and wine glasses with vodka

The event started with the speaker talking about the origins of Absolut Vodka from Sweden, the history of it, and even the evolution of Absolut Vodka commercials! I like that bit because we got to view the different commercials all around the world...

Absolut Vodka packaging in the 1800's!

Then we got to view a video of how Absolut Vodka is made.....and then... on to the "practical" side of things!! He told us there were three things people needed to do before drinking Absolut Vodka...

1. Smell
2. Taste
3. Swallow NOT sip!

Step one: We were given a test, clip our noses and try to taste brown sugar...
The brown sugar container is in between the A and B.... we found out how strong our sense of smell was when we took out the nose peg! The brown sugar was actually cinnamon!!!!!!
Step 2: The taste... does it taste fruity? acetone? That's what we had to find out.... As a non-drinker..it was pretty difficult for me to tell it apart...but I tried my best...and I *think* I could tell the difference!!

 3. The swallowing bit...GULP! We were basically suppose to tell the Absolut Vodka apart from the other Vodka's in row A.....and row B contained the different flavours of Absolut vodka... Claudia and Tim were VERY GOOD!

oooh you can tell how much she drank...someone started becoming red! hehehehehe

What can I say about Tim! He knew the vodka's like a professional and was sneakily drinking away even before the test begin!!! That's how much he loves his drinks!

A picture with the hot babes from MHB before I leave.....The exciting part for all Absolut drinkers out there was the after- class bit where there was an open bar and the professional speaker mixed drinks for everyone!!!!

Each and everyone of us got a certificate for completing the course! Woopppieee!! Another cert under our belts:)

Definitely an informative an eye opening liquor course....I would say I know a lot more about Absolut Vodka than before... no more staring at the different flavours and wondering about it(does it taste sweet, is it true?).... now I can even teach a course on it *winks*
