A taste of Japan in Malaysia

A new eatery I chanced upon thanks to Christian's recommendation is located in a an unorthodox area in Bangsar. It's a shophouse but there's only one row of it in the midst of a residential area.......

From the outside alone, you can tell that the inside will be very cute and artsy, just what I like!True enough, I actually felt like I was in a cafe in Japan when I stepped in, with art and cute accessories decorating the wall as you can see in the pictures

Even had an old school bike! Marry Poppins era..not like I've been there...BUT, that's how I imagine it to be.. *winkz*

Dotted with small tables and chair

Besides the cute ornaments, they sell accessories and clothes as well..how smart of them to actually double over as a boutique! Use the accessories and clothes to decorate the wall....creative!

My expectations of the food was really high because I expected it to be tasty Japanese cuisine...but the pictures online(I took it from their site) was not like the real thing..

Both the omelette rice with curry and katsu don looks good above right? When my dishes came, it didn't look that way at all(I forgot to take the pictures..my bad!) and the taste was just mediocre. My Japanese roommate in Hawaii could actually cook similar tasting food as what I ordered, and he has never cooked before we lived together...

Tofu cake - tasty for tofu lovers but Ben didn't like it because he thought it tasted "weird"

I can safely say that what I just wrote about the food is based on my love and experience with Japanese food. To put it simply, the Japanese food cooked tasted like home cooked food, and it wasn't "outstanding" home cooked food even. However, that was just the dished that I've tried, I heard the rest of their dessert is tasty especially the molten lava cake with ice cream, so you can definitely try the others before you make a decision. The ambience and decor makes you feel like you are in Japan, and that is a plus point already. Maybe my expectations for the food were really high to begin with which resulted in my reviews above but don't take my word for it. Please go and try it out for yourself!

This is a link to their website HERE or you can find them at one of their two locations:

No 1, Lorong Kurau, 59100, Bangsar, KL.

OR

Sunway Giza Mall, Poco Zakka and kitchen
